I am a business owner in Wilmington, NC who has begun to work with organizations in the Turks & Caicos Islands to help save the homeless Potcake dogs that inhabit the islands. The Potcake Project is sponsored by SaveDog Project, Inc., a non-profit dog welfare organization I am founding in 2014. We LOVE Potcakes, so our mission is very simple – we strive to give homeless Potcake dogs the opportunity to live in the home of a lifetime. We view Potcakes as our clients, and we’ll do whatever it takes to exceed our client’s expectations, one wagging tail at a time. We intend to help support the efforts of other potcake rescue organizations, with a common goal of uniting adoptable potcakes with loving forever homes. We also intend to support intelligently implemented spay & neutering programs, the critical “other half of a solution” to the proliferation of homeless, unwanted Potcakes in the Turks & Caicos Islands and Bahamas.

Cody (a little black/white shih tsu), was the first pet I owned as an adult. He was a Shih Tzu that I bought unknowingly, from a Puppy Mill. He fought for his life and barely survived, suffering for the first few months of his life. From then on I was stirred by a ferocious passion to save as many dogs as I could through networking with other rescue groups and saving the ones I could off of cold streets and unwanted in shelters. Cody did not live a very long life due to a weakened body, but I was able to love on him for eight good years! He will always be loved and forever remembered. With over 400 dogs rescued so far, we ARE making a difference!!

We rescue dogs from kill shelters in the South and vet them and bring them North to New England to find loving forever families.

We are animal control for all of Washington County, we enforce city and state animal laws, we pick up stray and unwanted pets and if not claimed by their owner, we put them up for adoption. We use as many rescue groups as we can to help find homes for all of our pets and the internet has been very helpful to our efforts.

Sammie's Friends was created in 2004 in order to provide medical care for the shelter animals that were being euthanized because of illness or injuries. We have successfully reduced the euthanasia rate in our county from 68% to less than 1%. We did this by providing medical care and by marketing our available animals. We are a staff of 11 animal lovers and have well over 100 volunteers that help run our shelter.

Broken Tail Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based rescue organization dedicated to the rescue of unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats in urgent need. We work closely with local animal controls, animal shelters and rescue groups to ensure the placement of these forgotten animals. We will not discriminate on basis of health, age, or breed and will only consider humane euthanasia in cases of aggression or for quality of life due to untreatable medical conditions. Our animals are vet examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered as needed and receive any and all medical treatment necessary prior to being placed into carefully screened permanent homes. We are proud to have a 100% spay/neuter rate on the canines and felines we adopt out. No animal leaves unaltered!

Itty bitty kitty NY is a small grassroots rescue group founded in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. All of the rescuers are volunteers with the care, love and compassion to save the lives of kitties in New York.

We are a group of three people starting a new rescue in the area. We rescue unwanted, abandoned and owner surrenders. We foster all animals we take in and socialize to they are ready to go to their new home. We do it for the love of the animals.

Mary Morvant is a life-long resident of Lafourche Parish and would like to see a kinder, more compassionate way of dealing with homeless dogs. She has over 40 yrs. experience as a trainer, groomer and boarding kennel owner.
