We are a small group of volunteers who have always had a passion for saving animals of any kind, but we are drawn to dachshunds. This drew us together and we decided to take a grass roots fundraising campaign to the next level, which is a 501c3 non profit that concentrates on rescueing dachshunds and dachshund mixes. We all do this solely for our love of animals and the breed. Corinne Zoscak is President. Kimberly Wykoff is Treasurer. Natalie McIntosh is Secretary. Corinne and Kimberly take care of mostly everything for the rescue. Natalie helps run the website and is basically a person to bounce ideas off of. We also have a long list of dedicated volunteers, foster parents, and transporters who help us accomplish our goals.

L&S Dog Diggity Rescue

San Antonio
TX
78254
We are L&S Dog Diggity Rescue, named after Lobo and Sydney, the first two dogs rescued under our care. We intake homeless dogs, mostly stray or abandoned, especially around the military bases in San Antonio, TX. Most of our founders are veterans and have seen the high numbers of dumped pets near bases that need rescue. Due to the high numbers of homeless pets in our immediate area, we have partnered with reputable rescue groups in other areas, with significantly fewer homeless pets, to find qualified adopters in order to actively impact the reduction the homeless pet population here.

We pull dogs from high-kill, rural shelters and place them in foster homes. Once they are vetted and spay/neuter (as needed) has happened, their information will be placed on our website to begin accepting adoption applications. We are a small group of animal rescuers & fosters who have a huge passion for saving shelter dogs. Personally, I've had 60 foster dogs in my home over the last 4 years and some of our potential volunteers have had even more in that same time period, all with a different rescue organization. I have a wonderful relationship with our local animal control facility and work closely with them to make sure dogs are placed in appropriate homes.

OPUNDO was established to assist HSRC in Beckley WV to move healthy, adoptable dogs and cats into rescues to avoid euthanasia. At the time, they were extremely high kill. As the shelter became more self-sufficient with this (new management, etc), we branched out to start doing adoptions ourselves. We pull animals from shelters and from the public to find homes and rescues. We also offer a monthly transport to a low cost spay neuter clinic for the general public, as well as transport for shelter animals to get to rescue on the weekends.

Baltimore Humane Society, founded in 1927 by Mrs. Elsie Seeger Barton, is an independent, non-profit, no-kill animal shelter, which offers a low-cost Spay, Neuter, & Vaccine Clinic to the public, and a pet cemetery with grief support services. We receive no operational funding from the local or federal governments, or any national animal welfare organizations. Its low-cost Spay, Neuter, & Vaccine Clinic is open to anyone in the public. B’more Humane also works to advance the cause of the humane treatment of animals and increase awareness of animal issues through public education. Presentations are given to groups of all sizes and ages both on and off site. Finally, Baltimore Humane Society ensure a peaceful resting place for beloved pets through the operation of a beautiful and well-maintained cemetery for companion animals. Paws News England has two missions: Rescue abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs from high-kill shelters and desperate situations, provide them with veterinary care and much needed TLC, and bring them to New England where we place them in safe, loving homes. Reduce and eventually end the 90% euthanization rate at the Tipton County Animal Shelter in Millington, Tennessee through community education on spay and neutering of pets. In the Beginning Eight years ago, Traci Wood, one of the co-founders of Paws New England, walked into the Tipton County Animal in search of Snowflake, a friend’s lost dog. Snowflake was not at the shelter (she was found alive and well later that day), but what Traci saw shocked and saddened her. The pitiful dogs and cats that she saw there that morning—some injured, many sick, cold and wet, and the absolute hopeless expressions on their little faces—made her heart sink. Traci started going to the shelter several times a week, taking photos of the dogs, posting them on Petfinder, and seeking the help of various rescue groups around the country. One-by-one, Traci started pulling dogs out of Tipton County and placing them in loving homes. Later that summer, a woman from Boston named Kelly Parker noticed all of the dogs Traci was posting and asked, “How can I help?” Their paths crossed with Jo-Anne Hutchinson who, while working with another rescue, met one of Traci’s dogs at a transport. She had been abandoned by the person who was to pick her up and was going to have to return to Tennessee. Jo-Anne took Daisy home and PAWS New England was born. PAWS Grows Approximately one year after its inception, PAWS New England was introduced to Julie Adams, a lone woman rescuer in Missouri. Julie was a selfless soul who took in abandoned and injured animal in her town of Oran, Missouri, where no shelter was in place. She was known as the dog lady, and people would simply leave their animals on her property in storage bins, tied to her mailbox or just put into her yard when she was not home. Julie cared for these animals, incurring all their veterinary and day to day expenses. She contacted PAWS New England and asked if we would be willing to list some of her dogs for adoption and find them homes to make room for more dogs in her area who were in desperate situations. PAWS Today Eight years later, PAWS now has over 75 volunteers, and a wonderful network of foster homes and rescue partners, including New England shelters, veterinarians and trainers. Based out of Barrington, Rhode Island, Paws New England has become one of the most recognized rescues in the area. Paws New England started with a simple mission: save lives, one dog at a time. Over the last eight years, more than 7000 dogs from Tennessee, Missouri, our local communities, and various other shelters throughout the country have been put into loving homes.

We advocate for pediatric spay/neuter. We believe that you cannot adopt yourself out of an overpopulation problem, that if the focus is not on spay/neuter, we will never solve the pet overpopulation problem. We rescue dogs and puppies from Puerto Rico, where the kill rate in shelters is 91%. Our rescue partners make sure that the mother dogs of our pups are spayed, or we receive both the mother and her pups for adoption. We prefer Satos because they have excellent temperaments and our adoptive families love them forever.

We are a full-service veterinarian who every now and then has low-income clients who come in and can't afford care for life-threatening conditions. These owners will many times choose to relinquish the pet and we will get them back to health and try to find them a family. On average, we have 3-4 pets up for adoption at any given time.
